Sweat Equity Club ("we", "us", "our") operates the Sweat Equity Start-up Summit website, exhibitor portal, visitor registration and related event services. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Data controller: Sweat Equity Club. Contact: use the form on our website or email the address listed in your booking confirmation.
What we collect
- Visitors: name, email, company, visitor type and consent preferences when you register for a free ticket or contact us.
- Exhibitors: account email, company profile, billing details processed by Stripe, uploaded media (logos, banners, pitch decks) and invoice records.
- Speed Networking: if you pre-register, we store your chosen group (Founder/Start-up or Angel/Investor/VC), linked visitor or exhibitor account, and confirmation status for founders selected by our team.
- Sweat Equity Connector: messages you send to other registered visitors or exhibitors, plus read timestamps used to show unread counts.
- Admin inbox: contact form and inbound email content, including attachments you send us.
- Check-in: ticket codes, QR tokens and check-in timestamps when you arrive at the venue.
- Technical data: cookies (see our Cookie Policy), IP address, browser type and usage analytics where enabled.
How we use your data
- To run the event, process stand bookings, issue invoices and communicate with exhibitors.
- To register visitors, deliver tickets and operate on-site check-in.
- To operate Speed Networking pre-registration and send confirmation emails to selected founders.
- To provide the Sweat Equity Connector messaging service between registered participants.
- To respond to enquiries, manage our admin inbox and send essential service messages.
- To improve the website and comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases
Contract performance, legitimate interests (running a business event and facilitating networking), consent (non-essential cookies and marketing where applicable), and legal obligation.
Sharing
We use Supabase (hosting/database), Stripe (payments), Vercel (application hosting), Resend (transactional email) and mapping providers where you accept cookies. We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
We keep data for as long as needed to deliver the event, operate networking features, meet accounting requirements (typically up to 6 years for financial records), and resolve disputes.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
International transfers
Where processors are outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK IDTA or adequacy decisions.
